Shootin' at the walls of heartache
bang bang
they are the Warriors!!
That's how they rolled in the 80's.
Fast facts
Opponent: Emmanuel Christian
Enrollment (9-12): 128
Division/League: Independent in Ohio / TAAC
Team Nickname: Warriors
Toledo Blade Preview of Emmanuel Christian (picked fifth in TAAC coaches poll)
Coach: Dave Regnier, 20th season
Last season: 4-8 TAAC, 8-15 Overall
This season: 1-1 TAAC, 2-2 Overall
Top players: Seniors Tony Behan, 5-10, G; Michael Henning, 6-1, G; Caleb Smith, 6-1, F. Sophomore Ryan Creech, 6-1, F.
Outlook: Behan (14.0 ppg, 3.6 apg) and Smith (9.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg) give the Warriors two proven scorers to lean on in the early stages of the season. Creech (7.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg) and Henning (3.5 ppg) have shown plenty of promise and figure to make greater contributions this season. Creech could be in position to have a breakout season, which would make it tough on Warriors opponents.
"Team emphasis will be an emphasis on patience and taking care of the ball along with a competitive group of players," Regnier said. "If we can stay healthy and improve rebounding, we could be competitive in the conference."
Hawkblog notes
It’s family reunion time for Julius Turner, who played at EC his freshman and sophomore year…there’s something about EC that makes me think they are much improved over last year – the 3 OT loss to Hilltop and the big 61-36 win this past Friday over Cardinal Stritch are impressive…Sophomore Forward Ryan Creech had 22 in the Stritch win, so look for Dixon Stoddard to draw Creech on the defensive end while Rick will likely be guarding Senior and long time MV nemesis Tony Behan.
JVs at 6pm, varsity to follow.
