From Hawkblog Special Correspondent Portia Ash
On Friday night the Boys’ JV wrapped up the 2010-2011 TAAC Season with a win over the Cardinal Stritch Cardinals, 27-21. With this win over the Cardinals, the Boys’ JV finished the TAAC season 11-1. As the Boys’ JV does not have an end of season tournament, I am declaring them the TAAC JV Champions for the ’10-’11 season. Who’s with me?
The Hawks started the game a little sluggish, with just an 8-7 lead over the Cardinals at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, both teams struggled offensively scoring only three and four points respectively as the quarter came to an end. At the half, the teams were tied 11-11 and the Cardinals' Pep Band treated us to a few snazzy tunes during halftime.
In the second half, both defense and offense picked up for both teams and the Hawks maintained the edge over the Cardinals. The Hawks would go up 18-15 on a three point shot by AJ to end the third quarter and never looked back. In the fourth quarter, the Hawks continued with aggressive play and ended the game with a 27-21 victory over the Cardinals.
In this final game of the TAAC season, the Hawks showed us what has worked for them this year in conference play, good team defense, an aggressive press, and good unselfish play on the offensive end of the floor.
Up next, the Hawks face the North Baltimore Tigers in a nonconference game, winding down a very busy week for the Hawks.
Scoring – Collins 12, Okeke 4, Woodward 4, King 3, Hazimah 2, Knabbs 2
