CCHS 6.4.11 Game 2: MV 55 – Cardinal Stritch 38

Stritch will have a decidedly different look in 2011-12. There are three or four new transfers-in for the Cardinals. They will have much more depth than last year, especially at the guard spot.

Overall, this bodes well for the TAAC's depth in the upcoming season. In addition to perennial contenders OH and TC, four other teams – MV, SC, EC and new entrant Gibsonburg – will not be pushovers. The TAAC's out-of-conference record should be much improved and there will be few nights off during league play.

The Hawks rode Julius’ hot hand in the first half. The Hawk swing man scored 13 points in the first half to lead all scorers. Jonathan Krueger fired in a three pointer at the buzzer to end the half with MV leading 30-15.

The Cardinals are known for their tough play, and they didn’t disappoint today. Both teams were banging under the boards. But in the end, the Hawks’ experience and strength paid off for the win.

Scoring for MV: Rick 14, Dave 5, Jared 9, Julius 19, Jon 5, Thad 3.

The competition gets tougher this week for the Blue and White at Central. On Thursday, the Hawks will face D-II Woodward from the City League and D-1 Anthony Wayne, which features NCAA Division 1 prospect Mark Donnal - brother of Iowa redshirt Freshman offensive lineman Andrew and son of all around good guy Ron Donnal.

Video Highlights.

1. Julius driving down main street for two.

2. Julius again – this time a three from the corner.

3. Rick pulls up for a three off the fast break.

4. Rick scores his second three in as many possessions.

5. Thad scores his first summer league points from the line. He would score two more on a pretty put-back later in the game.
