Boys' JV Beats Bettsville Bobcats, Advance to 9-1 on the Season

From Hawkblog Special Correspondent Portia Ash

On Tuesday the boys' JV traveled to Bettsville, Ohio, to play the Bettsville High School Bobcats and beat the Bobcats 54-20 in their last non-conference game until the end of the regular season.

The Bobcats greeted us with our second pep band of the season (way too much fun) and the first mascot of the season, a rambunctious fellow that had a lot of fun doing "the worm" and trying to distract the Hawks with his megaphone. And the biggest treat of all, the Bobcats had a little girl power on their team with two lady Bobcats playing on their JV squad.

The Hawks played a good game. A press along with good defense led to breakaway layups and good offense created a lot of open shots. We were able to see a number of Hawks on the floor for a good amount of time throughout the game and well balanced scoring across the team. How about that Rashaan, Haithem and Steven! Go Hawks!

Two threes from the corner by Thad, great backdoor layups by Danny with assists from Marcus, pick pocket action with breakaway layups from AJ and the Hawks coasted through each quarter of the game.

Up next, the Hawks enter a stretch in their schedule which will see them face seven league opponents in a row starting with Cardinal Stritch on Friday.

Congratulations to varsity coach, Jim Robinson, on his 500th career win!

Scoring - King 15, Woodard 10, Preston 7, Collins 4, Hazimah 4, Okeke 4,
Maaieh 3, MacPherson 3, Dick 2, Knabbs 2
