Girls 45 – MCA 13 – December 9, 2010 - Game Summary with Bonus video

The Hawks raised their record to 2-1 following a 45-13 win vs. Monclova Christian on Thursday December 9, 2010 at the Thunderdome. Kristin Bigelow led the Hawks with 26 points.

One of the better traditions at a visitors building is the Opponents’ Wall at MCA. Every new school the Thunder plays has a sign put up on the west wall in their honor.

Starting five: Kristin Bigelow (‘12), Delaney Lonsway (‘12), Jazmine Aldridge-Brownlee (‘12), Genna Danes (‘12) and Wesley Flaum (‘12)

First Quarter – MV 19 – MCA 4

The Play of the Game was the opening tip-off. From there, the Hawks never looked back. Everything worked in the first quarter for the visitors, and the shots flew in from everywhere. Jordan Baker saw early duty for MV.

Second Quarter – MV 8 – MCA 5

Starting five – Kristin, Jordan Baker, Yazmine AbdulKarim, Delaney and Genna

The pace slowed in the second quarter, with both teams struggling to score. Both teams played a 2-3 zone. Scoring highlights included a Wesley 2 pointer at the 4:20 mark and an in, out and in again basket by Delaney at the end of the half. Karla Luketic saw action in the last 1:32 of the quarter. The teams adjourned with the score MV 27 – MCA 9.

Third Quarter – MV 9 – MCA 2

Again, the Hawks took command, with the scoring featuring an old fashioned 3 by Kristin and a longball 3 from Genna. Cammie Lonsway made her first appearance of the game.

Fourth Quarter –MV 9 – MCA 2

Fourth Quarter Starters – Wesley, Yazmine, Jordan, Genna and Kristin

The Hawks finished things off in the fourth quarter behind a 3 pointer from Yazmine. Anne Deichert and Emily Boyk saw action in the last two minutes with Anne grabbing two rebounds.

Next up

Looking to move to 3-1, the Hawks travel to Vanlue to face the Wildcats in a 2pm start on Saturday December 11.
